UV mapping denotes the 3D modeling process of transmitting a 2D image to a 3D model's surface for texture mapping.
This method assigns a texture map onto a 3D object. The letters "U" and "V" specify the axes of the 2D texture as "X", "Y" and "Z" are already applied to symbolize the axes of the 3D object in model space.
In Sketchup go to menu->Plugin->UVTools->Import UVs from OBJ
